I spent summer 2026 in Dublin for my Software Engineer Program Internship at JPMorganChase. It was my first time living in the city, and I loved the summer I spent there. Between my team, the project work and the other interns, I looked forward to each day.

Learning on a real platform

I developed Java features for an enterprise platform that brings together over 10,000 metrics. I worked from requirements clarification through implementation, taking ownership of features within the team. Working alongside experienced engineers helped me understand how my work fitted into the wider platform and what engineering involves in an enterprise environment.

I also explored how modern AI tools and workflows can support software engineering. I found that part of the experience exciting, and I want to keep learning more about how to use these tools in my own work.

The people and the summer

My team welcomed me from day one. I enjoyed working with them, asking questions and getting to know the people behind the work. The same was true of the other interns. Through the intern challenges, table tennis and social events, I made friends and had a lot of fun.

I finished the internship with more confidence, experience of taking ownership in an engineering team, and good memories of my first summer in Dublin. It was a valuable few months, and I left even more excited about the field I had chosen.
